KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia saw a follow through selling pressure on Tuesday, pushing the FBM KLCI lower for the fourth straight session.
At closing, the benchmark index fell 1.53 points, or 0.1% to 1,488.27, its intraday low.
There were 470 gainers, 348 losers and 424 counters traded unchanged on the Bursa Malaysia. Turnover stood at 2.19 billion shares valued at RM1.65bil.
In today’s session, 15 of the KLCI-component stocks closed lower while 12 counters chalked up gains and three closed unchanged.,
Among the component stocks, Nestle tumbled RM1.80 to RM133.10, PPB eased 56 sen to RM16.80, PETRONAS Dagangan fell 20 sen to RM20.90 and IHH Healthcare declined five sen to RM6.15.
PETRONAS Chemicals rose 17 sen to RM8.99, Press Metal gained eight sen to RM4.80, Inari climbed six sen to RM2.72 and Kuala Lumpur Kepong added six sen to RM22.36.
On the broad market, Malaysian Pacific Industries rose 46 sen to RM29.50, Alpha Ocean Resources added 30 sen to RM2.60 and Harrisons gained 28 sen to RM6.
Meanwhile, Brent crude oil fell US$2.20 to US$93.54 a barrel while the US West Texas Intermediate crude added 24 cents to US$87.11 per barrel.
Elsewhere in the region, Japan’s Nikkei 225 added 0.025%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index lost 0.12%, South Korea’s Kospi closed up 0.26%, China’s CSI 300 rose 0.92% and Singapore’s Straits Times Index added 0.58%.
