PETALING JAYA: Celcom Axiata Bhd has appointed Yap Wai Yip as acting chief financial officer effective Aug 8.

He will be assuming the role held by Jennifer Wong Chui Fen who has decided to pursue other interests outside of Celcom, with effect from Aug 31.

Yap has been with the Axiata Group since October 2008 and brings with him over 40 years of experience including more than 14 years in the telecommunications industry.

He has held various senior-level management roles in finance within Axiata Group.

“Celcom would like to extend its appreciation to Wong over the course of her 15-year career and service with the organisation. Wong played a key role in driving Celcom’s business transformation, which in turn resulted in positive turnarounds of Celcom’s business performance in the recent years,” Celcom said in a statement.
